The other day I was engaged in a conversation with a prospect. I freely shared that I sometimes encounter projects & organizations where I cannot succeed.
His feedback left me thinking about how we approach mishaps. He said, even though I might not be the best possible fit from a domain experience perspective, he’s going to make sure I’m hired with the client organization and help them.
Why?
Because I openly admitted that I failed in past projects, but showed how I would translate my experience gained to his organization. That was something he hasn’t encountered commonly.
To everyone reading this, even though you might have had a “failed project”… I’m here to remind you that in every project you were able to celebrate some successes.
And you were presented with enormous opportunities to learn.
I know the feeling quite well, but I know as well, it fades away, and the knowledge adds up.
